Alain Robidoux (QC) is now a 6 time winner of the Canadian Open Snooker Championship after his 6-2 victory over John White (ON). Contributing to Alain's win was his ability to adjust to the playing conditions better than anyone else, not to mention the fact that he plays pretty good. He had a very strong semi-final match, defeating last year's winner Tom Finstad (AB) by a 6-0 margin.

For John it was no easy journey to the final as he had many long drawn out matches including the 6 hour semi-final with Don Chomiski (ON) last night, which finished just before 1 am. John is normally one to make a hundred here and there but his positional play seemed to be  affected by the cloth being a bit slower than he likes. John won this event in 1990 and this was his second consecutive year as a finalist.

Going into this tournament Alain was eager to bet that no one would have a hundred break because the cloth was slower and the pockets a bit tighter. Fern Loyer got it going to 99 missing a black and the colours for a possible 133. So it was up to Alain, and he did it with a 103 in his semi-final match with Tom Finstad.

Anita McMahon (ON) is again this year's Canadian Women's Snooker Champion after her 4-3 victory over Sheri Richardson (ON). Their marathon match lasted 8 hours. Congratulations to both players for a fine effort and to Sarah Chapuisat (QC) for participating in this year's championship. This is Anita's 7th consecutive win in this event.

Len Homenchuk (BC) defeated Vic Pottruff (ON) 4-1 in the Canadian Senior Snooker Championship best of 7 final. Both players were undefeated until their first meeting. Len sent Vic to the 1 loss side to play Ed Maksymuik who was making a charge for the one loss win. Vic defeated Ed 3-1 to have another crack at Len Homenchuk for the title but was beaten 4-1.
