August 22, 2007 - Floyd Ziegler won the Canadian Snooker Championship earlier today defeating Alberta's Tom Finstad by a 6 nil margin. Ziegler is a first time winner of this event, while Finstad has won on three occasions, the latest in 2005.
Floyd reached the final defeating Stan Chartrand 5-2, Kirk Clouthier 5-0, and Alain Robidoux 6-3. Tom reached the final defeating Jim Gourlie 5-0, Andre Roy 5-1 and Lester Mianskum 6-1. Ottawa's Kirk Clouthier is a former winner in this event.
Floyd practiced hard leading up to the tournament and his efforts paid off, sending pre - tournament favourite Alain Robidoux out in the semi-final. Robidoux won this event in 2006 and this is his first loss in quite some time.
The final was a tight match with a high break of 48. Eriks Malderis laid claim to the highest break of 113 in the round robin stage in a 35 player field, the largest in many years.

Vic Pottruff
Floyd is now eligible to play in this years IBSF World Championship in Korat, Thailand. A greater challenge than winning this championship will now be boarding the plane.
You can do it Floyd. WELL DONE!
In the Senior's final, Vic Pottruff won the deciding frame over last year's winner Len Homenchuk. Vic was sent to the lower bracket after his first match, but won the next four to reach the final.
