Defending champion out in first round.

Aug 19, 2008 - Defending champion Floyd Ziegler is out of this years snooker championship after a 5-2 loss to Tom Finstad on the first day of the elimination round. This time last year, this same pairing were competing in the championship final with Ziegler walking away with the title. Tom carded a 106 break in his match today. Alain Robidoux also added a 102 to his list.

Claude Bernatchez, Jeff Kennedy, Kirk Stevens, Lester Mianskum, Alain Robidoux, Fern Loyer and Tom Finstad will be competing in today's 10 am Quarter-finals after their match wins yesterday. The match between Jonathon Sun and Stephane Martineau turned into a bit of a marathon. Sun eventually won 5-3 and will play Tom Finstad today.

The senior matches have advanced to the semis with Bob King, Pat Landry, Pidge Ashworth and Lacey Dalton still undefeated. The semis will be played at 3:30 pm today and the upper bracket final at 10am Wednesday.
