 Martel wins inaugural 10-ball championship.

Aug 23, 2009 - When you're travelling you hope to be distanced from your playing partners so that all have a chance to go as far as possible before meeting.

Unfortunately for the Quebec trio of Martel, Salvas and Crevier they were drawn to meet in the 2nd and 3rd rounds, should they win their matches. Crevier drew Salvas and Salvas, Martel, so it was up to Alain to carry on, which he did to the A side final after defeating Adam Smith.

Adam Smith went four rounds on the top half of the A  side  before meeting Martel  and moving to the B side.

Likewise on the bottom half of the draw John and Mario Morra were set to meet in the 4th round.

It never materialized though, Mario defeated Brittany Bryant and moved the B side courtesy of Raymond Cruz. John passed by Andrew Attard and Felix Beardy before finding himself in the lower bracket, also at the hands of Raymond Cruz.

Ed Reyes and Ashley Nowlan compiled four wins each in the lower bracket, but this ended with Reyes losing to Hjorleifson and Nowlan to Beardy. Hjorleifson had the best record of the day at 5 wins.

By the completion of play on Saturday Alain Martel and Raymond Cruz were undefeated to the A final.  Still alive on the B side were Erik Hjorleifson, John Morra, Felix Beardy and Adam Smith.

Raymond Cruz defeated Alain Martel by a 11-6 margin to claim the A final on Sunday and both lower bracket matches went hill hill with Hjorleifson and Smith advancing.

Hjorleifson won 9-7 over Smith in the next round, taking him to 7 wins on the B side.

The B final between Hjorleifson and Martel went to an 11-8 finish in favour of Alain Martel.

That left Raymond Cruz and Alain Martel for the championship. In a lengthy hill hill battle, Alain Martel emerged as the victor of this year's 10-ball championship.
