Brittany's three-peat.
Aug 21, 2009 - This time last year Brittany Bryant was making her presence in the championships felt. She entered three divisions and was prominent in all three. Her runner-up finish in the 9-ball championship, was her best, against winner Naomi Williams.
Naomi won the 8 and 9-ball championships in 2008, but despite winning both B finals this year she was unable unseat Brittany.
Brittany defeated Naomi in the 2nd round of the women's 9-ball championship and then had wins over Veronique Menard and Denise Belanger to the hot seat.
Naomi on the other hand went five rounds in the lower bracket for a rematch, which Brittany won 11-8. Denise Belanger was third in this event.
Brittany was also entered in the Junior 9-ball championship with a mixed field. She along with McEarl Bucais, last year's winner in this event, were undefeated to the A final. McEarl won this match by a 9-5 score only to see Brittany bounce back after a 9-3 win over Ryan Spence.
Brittany Bryant is the first women to win the Junior Championship unseating McEarl Bucais 11-9.
While Naomi Williams is the first to win the women's 8 and 9-ball events in the same year, Brittany Bryant is the first to have won all three events in the same year. A very great accomplishment that I doubt will ever be matched.
Congratulations on a fabulous effort.
